Currently, Somalia has a large number of NGOs and civil society organizations working in humanitarian, human rights, freedom of expressions, rehabilitation, security, social works and development sectors. The United Religions Initiative of Somalia (URIS) serves as a coordinating body, advocating for and supporting the work of these initiatives/NGOs.
The current Somalia civil society organizations, networks and NGOs in Somalia play a vital role in delivering aid and addressing various needs, but also face challenges related to coordination, accountability, and operating in a complex environment.
