URIS Condemns the Unlawful Arrest of Two Somali Zitizens at Mozambique!

According to the Somali media outlets and journalists’ associations two Somali citizens are in custody without public reason since late the of 2021 and have kepted at unknown prison in Mozambique. The names of the two captured victim persons are recorded as Abdirisak Elmi Hussein and Abdulrahman Mahdi Hussein. One of the young business youth men is legal resident person in Nampula, Mozambique as he is legal citizenship ID holder.

Obviously, Unlawful detention is the act of holding a person in custody or confining them without legal justification or proper due process. It means restricting a person’s freedom without the authority of law, such as arresting or holding someone without probable cause or a warrant. As result of that, the case of the Somali citizens looks like racism and discrimination act from Mozambique police as well as a one seems lack of transparent mission and democratic investigations from both nations.

Unlawful or arbitrary detention is fundamentally incompatible with the principles of democracy. The right to liberty and security of the person is a cornerstone of a democratic society and a universal human right, protected by international instruments like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

URIS calls international and continental attention over such discriminative criminolizing acts from Mozambique police officers and their centers in both rural and urban units.
